Hello
and Welcome back to Medi8tor! We hope that you all had a wonderful and safe
holiday season, as well as a Happy New Year. This blog is dedicated to the topic of Fame
Management. Fame Management consists of helping individuals in arts and
entertainment adjust to the rapid transitions in their personal life, due to
the notoriety of their professional life and persona.
Today
we will be talking about an artist who is at the top of her game, and seems to
be handling Fame Management effortlessly, but this balance has not come without
it’s fair share of challenges. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles- Carter is an
accomplished singer, songwriter, actress, fashion mogul, and entrepreneur.
She
began her career as one fourth of the world renowned, chart-topping group Destiny’s
Child, and began her solo career in 2003. During this time her father Matthew
Knowles was her manager, until he was abruptly fired last year after debuting her
album “4.” Many people thought this decision was apart of Beyoncé’s natural
progression as a woman and artist, but according to TMZ an
audit conducted by Beyoncé’s law firm led to an alleged discovery that her
father was stealing money from her, which may have been the real reason she decided
to become her own manager.
Lately,
Beyoncé seems to have learned from her previous financial woes, and recently
signed a $50million dollar deal with Pepsi, which she will make sure is recorded
on her financial statement and is obtained in full. This deal is interesting
because it is a mutually beneficial investment for the superstar as well as the
premium soft drink company. This deal will of course include the usual
promotion, commercials, and appearances for Pepsi that will star the
songstress.
This is not Beyoncé’s first time around with Pepsi she has been
doing commercials since 2002. Check out her previous Pepsi commercials below.

Pepsi Commercial 2005
Beyoncé
is scheduled to perform during this years Super Bowl half time show sponsored
by Pepsi, and Pepsi is even releasing a limited edition Pepsi can with the
singer on it. This is definitely a winning investment in exposure for Pepsi’s
brand, but how will this deal benefit Beyoncé’s brand?
Aside
from the $50 million dollar salary and the obvious brand marketing exposure that
Beyoncé’s brand will receive, the most interesting part of this deal is that Pepsi
has agreed to help invest in some of the singer’s future creative endeavors as
well. This means that any money that is made from Beyoncé’s Pepsi campaigns
will go to the company, and a portion will also go right back to the singer to
help finance the next level of her creativity.
In
Medi8tor’s summation this is a win; win financial situation for both parties,
and one that should be noted as a desired business model for aspiring and
emerging artist as they build their own brands.
Until
next time!
